A historic visit with the Innus!

The mission of the Shaputuan Museum of Uashat (Sept-Îles), which opened in 1988, is to share Innu culture and to facilitate the dialogue between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. That is achieved through intercultural exchanges, as well as actions intended for young people and Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal schools. The museum houses a permanent exhibit entitled “The Progress of the Seasons in Innu Territory”, which focuses on the traditional life of the Innu Tshitshuk summer solstice, which takes place on June 21 and the Mamu-Ensemble painting symposium, scheduled for August, are among its most popular activities.
